What happens when paint is machine polished? Sure, the simple answer is “we remove defects” or “the appearance is improved”. Most technicians know the steps and the results, but do they actually know what is happening? The process of moving abrasives over a surface to remove defects affects the polish, the polishing pad, and the paint in different ways; many of which are not visible to the naked eye. This presentation uses graphics and pictures combined with expert instructions to introduce students to these concepts and how the technicians can adapt to these dynamic conditions to be more efficient, effective and produce better results.
