RUPES introduces the new TP/PC drill, the first tool in the world with a body made of technical polymer instead of traditional cast metals. The new plastic material reduced the weight of the tool and improved electrical insulation, and improved worker safety. Later plastic housing tools would become the standard.

RUPES revolutionized the world of sanding by launching the first electric random orbital sander, the BR 8. Dust removal systems were also integrated into all RUPES sanders to improve operator safety.

1985
1985 marked the introduction of new vacuum systems, both centralized and mobile. These systems were aimed at the removal of dust in smoothing processes, and developed the RUPES “Energy Car”, the first mobile trolleys equipped with vacuum, designed to be easily moved around the workplace.

BigFoot Polishing Systems make their debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, almost immediately making a huge impact on the detailing and collision repair industries. The LHR21 and LHR15 platforms continue as RUPES flagship products 3 generations of design later.

RUPES SpA acquires Colorado-based Cyclo Toolmakers and forms RUPES USA. The new subsidiary of the parent company becomes the North American headquarters for the brand, adding sales, customer service, technical, and repair support in the former Cyclo headquarters.

The BigFoot iBrid Nano. A first of its kind micro polisher with the ability to accept multiple types of polishing attachments, as well as run on both corded or battery power. This same year RUPES announces production of the flagship LHR21 and LHR15 BigFoot tools at its US facility; this is the first time the innovative tools are manufactured outside of Italy.

RUPES officially opens a new state-of-the-art facility in Louisville, Colorado to serve as the US headquarters. The grand opening coincides with the companies 70th anniversary celebration and a massive gala event. The new facility boasts a massive manufacturing space, industry-leading training center, and offices for support staff.

A new state-of-the-art RUPES manufacturing facility opens in Houston, Texas. The facility is dedicated solely to the manufacturing of polishing pads and compounds for the North American market. This announcement solidifies RUPES as a true full-system manufacturer and the only company with foam pad manufacturing operations on two continents.
